9 inch Minuk Doll - Girls of Many Lands

This is 9-inch Yupik Doll - Minuk tm from the Girls of Many Lands tm collection which includes a stand and the paperback book - "Minuk: Ashes in the Pathway " by Kirkpatrick Hill. This doll was designed by the world famous designer Helen Kish and protrays a young girl, Minuk who is wearing clothes that are made in the traditional way which means that her parka was hand sewn by her mother and grand mother out of soft arctic ground squirrel pelts with triangles of white caribou fur decorating the hood. The ruff around Minuk's face has a band of wolverine fur, and tassels sway gracefully on the back and front of the parka. Her caribou fur boots have stiff sealskin bottoms to keep her feet dry. A beautiful doll for your collection of a 12 year old who is in for new customs as white missionaries come to her tiny Yup'ik village. -- Please note that the "Girls of Many Lands" dolls were Not made with undergarments as they were mainly made for display.
